Sayuri, Senior Doe getting ready for a haircut.

When my show animals retire, they will either have babies or provide lots of wool for spinning. Sayuri is a very nice doe. I am hoping to get her bred soon. In the mean time, I am about to collect lots of wool from her to spin.

Book on Rabbit Husbandry

Hello friends, I want to share with you a very nice book I recently bought. This book is a must-have for any rabbit enthusiast. It details information on proper rabbit husbandry. Furthermore, there is an excellent chapter on Angora Wool Production. Although this chapter covers information on the German Angora breed, it's information is paramount for any angora breed.

You can purchase this book to read on your computer, which will be less expensive than buying the hardcopy.

New Spinning Wheel

This past year of 2014, was very good to us. We were so blessed. I decided that I needed to splurge on "me" for Christmas. I looked around for a new spinning wheel. I had my eyes set on the National Custom Spinning Works wheel, but unfortunately, this wheel and it was beyond my budget at that time. However, I found one pre-owned and at a very affordable price. Needless to say, I bought it!

I have to say, this wheel is amazing. Not only is it heavy and sturdy, but works great and soft. One major feature I love is the fact that it is manufactured in the USA.

Below is are pictures I took from the NCSW website; however, my wheel is the exact same color and has all the attachments.

Yellow Rose Fiber Producers Fiesta 2015 in Sequin, TX

I had the opportunity to attend the Yellow Rose Fiber Producers Fiesta in Seguin, TX, this month. The weather was not good for the Blacklands Prairie Show in Waxahachie, TX, and eventually, the show got cancelled.

My sons and had a wonderful time at the Fiesta and I purchased lots of fiber--a lot more than I intended. We met our friends, Kelly Flading and her mother, Gloria, and we had a wonderful time chatting away.

I want to encourage all to attend he yearly event, which is full of Fiber, fun, and lots of people to talk with!

TXRBA show in Killeen part 2

Below is Eric Stewart judging the Angora breeds. He was mentoring a young lady that will soon be a judge on how to judge the Angoras properly.

Eric is always gracious enough to answer questions and mentor us all. I had the opportunity to ask several questions I had been pondering about. Eric gave me great feedback and did not mind my questions. It is always good to receive feedback from a knowledgeable judge who is always eager to impart their knowledge with breeders.

TXRBA show in Killeen, TX

We had a wonderful show in Killeen. I did not take rabbits, unfortunately; however, our friends took several awesome rabbits, which are representative of the breeds. Three breeds were shown: English Angora, French Angora and Satin Angora

Below are pictures of Judge Scott Hernandez doing a great job judging the rabbits.
